Just stays on a black screen for me. I restarted multiple times, Reinstalled it and all that jazz.

This is a fine game but is very outdated from 2008. It is well superceded by GalCiv 3 much updated when it came out in 2015.

Lots of ways to win, but the only way to win at the hardest levels is through a multi tiered approach of economics, research, alliances, sabotage, and constant tweaking of battleship fleets.
